Working on the Haunted Hollow genealogy

I'm hard at work planning and writing the next books in the Haunted Hollow series and am setting up the series bible (wish I'd done that from the start). I found a great piece of software (MacFamilyTree 8) that has made organizing the families of Radley's Hollow a snap.

If you read epic fiction of any kind (historical, fantasy, sci-fi), do you like having a genealogy included with the novel? How about maps and glossaries?

Hearst Castle ~ Part 1: Dreamy memories

In a few weeks I'll be making a short trip down the California coast to San Simeon to celebrate birthdays with some of the ladies in my family. Destination: Hearst Castle. The romance and drama of the castle perched in the hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean has always appealed to me. A few years ago, my husband and I visited the famed estate of William Randolph Hearst. Here are some of my favorite moments from that tour (2013). I think it could be fun to set a romantic thriller here. What do you think?

African Gods come to Comics

A friend recently sent me a link to a story about a young Brazilian comic book artist, Hugo Canuto, who's turning African gods into superheroes. As someone who's also been inspired by the gods and goddesses of Afro-Caribbean religions in both my writing and my artwork, I was intrigued. It's exciting to see these dynamic gods and their stories make it into modern day culture.

Cirque du Soleil meets Mexican Folk Culture in Luzia

2/23/2017

Anyone who knows me well knows I'm a huge fan of the Mexican holiday El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). So when my husband surprised me with tickets to Cirque du Soleil's Luzia, a production based on Mexican folklore, I was beyond thrilled. The event was a visual delight, full of the color, fantasy, and magical realism I associate with Mexican culture. Want to see it for yourself: https://www.cirquedusoleil.com/luzia
